Artist Statement:

Is beauty truly important, and if so, to whom? Some see beauty as a girl standing graciously in a magazine advert showing off her features and slender appendages that delicately position her body. It is so many things in different eyes and we have grown in a society that has been able to introduce such exquisite artificial beauty that we’ve not been able to decipher the difference between reality and imitation. As the saying goes beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder.

In these works the beauty is not only from an artificial flower or is it perhaps a real one. The mysterious smoke that bellows around these flowers create a curious beauty that draws your eye from each petal, down to the stem. My inspiration came from the curiosity of life and its silence around me. In this small project I’ve made myself aware and appreciative. Can you?
